On a shift Rota between 8am and 9pm

An opportunity has arisen for my client to recruit a Cleaning & Portering Services, Co-ordinator, reporting directly to the Cleaning & Portering Services Manager. They are looking for dynamic and effective co-ordinator to support the Cleaning & Portering Manager and Services. These are exciting times and they are keen to ensure they have services that are delivering the highest standard of service delivery
The job holder will be responsible for co-ordinating all of the activities of the Cleaning & Portering Services teams, ensuring that wards and departmental areas are maintained to the agreed National Standards of Cleanliness and that all Portering requests and duties are delivered within agreed response times.
They will expect you to effectively ensure appropriate allocation of resources and control of local budgets and to positively promote the service through all wards and departments across the Trust sites. You will also support the Cleaning & Portering manager in providing a quality service based on best practice using the latest techniques and technology available to you.
Main responsibilities:
To organise and manage the day-to-day control and overall organisation of the Cleaning & Portering services within the Trust premises.
To highlight staff performance and conduct problems to Cleaning & Portering Services Manager and to take appropriate counseling action to correct any issues at the earliest possible stage.
To resolve staff shortage issues and to highlight any ongoing problems to Cleaning & Portering Services Manager.
To ensure that all new cleaning & portering staff, temporary or permanent, receive an up-to-date and appropriate induction and general training and record as required.
To ensure that staff rotas are organised to reflect the workload/demands of the service, within the budget allocation for the department, advising the Cleaning & Portering Services Manager of any variations from agreed financial performance.
To draw up and regularly review work schedules, methods and procedures.
To participate in Ward & Department service level agreements.
Develop and promote relationships with internal and external customers.
Responsible for the submission of oral and written reports to the Cleaning & Portering Services Manager as required.
To be responsible for authorisation of weekly and monthly timesheets, overtime and the booking of bank and agency staff.
To be responsible for ensuring that the domestic waste compactor and additional general waste skips are routinely maintained and replaced on the Trust sites.
To ensure that all internal Trust post and external mail is received, sorted and allocated to the appropriate destinations.
Undertake General and Manual Handling Risk Assessments and COSHH Assessments.
To assist with quality control procedures including regular customer satisfaction surveys.
Deputies for the Cleaning & Portering Manager for operational aspects in his/her absence and at all other times when directed.
Ensure all portering equipment is used safely and in the correct manner; clean and carry out user maintenance checks, report all defects. This equipment includes wheelchairs, trolleys including mortuary trolley, electric tugs, waste bins etc.
Ensure handover records are completed at the end of each shift
To assist in the development of staff by contributing to appraisal/PDRs and KSF discussions
Assist with the recruitment, induction and on job training of all new staff and refresher courses for those identified
Carry out weekly/Monthly National Cleanliness Standards auditing of all areas of responsibility, and ensure corrective action is undertaken if required in agreed timeframe.
Assist in the delivery of the Cleaning & Portering Service within agreed budgets.
The post holder is required to participate in Corporate Infrastructures out of hours response arrangements.
Key Skills
Ability to monitor, lead and develop a team
Previous experience as a Team Leader / Co-ordinator (in a similar position desirable)
Good organiser with proven time management skills
Persuasive and able to work on own initiative
Effective communicator with good interpersonal skills, able to liaise at all levels.
The ability to work under pressure, organise and prioritise changing workloads
The ability to adapt readily to change and work effectively in a variety of situations, in groups or with individuals.
To be an active and motivated hands on team member, maintaining a flexible attitude at all times.
